Palestine Polytechnic University Organizes Workshop on the Palestinian-Jordanian Model for Dual Vocational and Technical Education
The College of Applied Professions at Palestine Polytechnic University organized a workshop entitled “The Palestinian-Jordanian Model for Dual Vocational and Technical Education”. The event was attended by University President Prof. Dr. Mustafa Abu Safa, Vice President for Planning and Development Eng. Ayman Sultan, Assistant to the President for Community Service Dr. Mohammad Abu Taha, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Eng. Rabee Abu Shamlah, Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie Dr. Mohammad Al-Jallad, Hebron Chamber of Commerce and Industry Eng. Thaer Zugheir, and the University of Lisbon – Portugal, in addition to experts and academics from the college.
Prof. Abu Safa opened the workshop with welcoming remarks, expressing gratitude to both international and local partners, and emphasizing the importance of collaboration in advancing vocational and technical education to serve the needs of Palestine and Jordan.
Following this, the delegation from the University of Lisbon presented an overview of the institution and its experiences, along with a general introduction to the project. Project Director Eng. Safa Seder delivered a presentation on the German model of dual vocational and technical education and explained how it could be adapted to design a Palestinian-Jordanian model that strengthens the role of vocational and technical training while remaining aligned with the local contexts of both countries. Project team members Eng. Mo’tasem Natsheh and Eng. Alaa Tamimi outlined the origins of the initiative, its objectives, expected outcomes, and its significance for both Palestine and Jordan.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion session that witnessed broad engagement from participants. Key challenges to developing this model were addressed, and several practical recommendations were put forward to support the path toward building a comprehensive Palestinian-Jordanian model for dual education.
It is worth noting that this workshop is part of a series of activities under the Palestine Jordan Model for Dual VET project, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program. Upcoming activities will include practical workshops, training visits, and diverse initiatives, all aimed at establishing a fully integrated Palestinian-Jordanian model for dual vocational and technical education.
