Exploring CCIP and CINEL (Day 1 in Lisbon)
The PJ-D-VET consortium officially kicked off its study visit in Lisbon with a packed agenda focused on bridging the gap between the labor market and the education sector. Day 1 offered partners a deep dive into how Portugal aligns industry needs with vocational training.
Morning Session: The Business Perspective at CCIP
The day began at 10:30 AM in the heart of Lisbon with a visit to the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP). Established in 1834, CCIP is one of Portugal’s most prominent business associations.
During this meeting, the consortium explored CCIP’s strategic role in human capital development and employability. The session provided practical demonstrations of:
- How the Portuguese business sector and labor market actively boost relations with the education sector.
- The crucial role education plays in developing a highly skilled, much-needed workforce for various economic sectors.
- The importance of cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange in international projects.

Afternoon Session: Specialized Vocational Training at CINEL
In the afternoon, the delegation traveled to the Alto de Santo Amaro district to visit CINEL (Center of Professional Education on Electronics, Energy, Telecommunications, and Information Technologies).
Established in 1985 through a protocol with the Portuguese Institute for Employment and Training, CINEL is a public-law training organization dedicated to high-quality vocational education. The visit highlighted how CINEL operates on the ground to:
- Respond directly to the skills needed by individuals and companies, particularly in technical and technological fields.
- Support employability, upskilling, and lifelong learning.
- Serve both young learners and adults with specialized offerings that perfectly align with national and industry demands.
Day 1 perfectly encapsulated the PJ-D-VET mission, showing exactly how strong partnerships between business associations like CCIP and specialized training centers like CINEL can connect learners with real career paths.
